Called To Be Signposts, not Milestones
“Blessed Mariam Thresia is a signpost to heaven,” declared His Eminence Rt.Rev.Dr.Polly Kannookadan, the Bishop of Irinjalakuda.

This was one of the expressions he used while he broke the Divine Word with nearly 5000 people assembled in and around the new auditorium at Kuzhikkattussery during the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration in which he was the Principal Celebrant.  The ocean of crowd overflowed the vast auditorium and spread the entire campus on account of Blessed Mariam Thresia whose holy feet had once blessed this very soil. A thought thrilled the hearts of the people that they were seated in  the place where God came down to console and carress ThresiaI in the enormous suffering she chose to under go. And there at the holy altar stood the earthen figure of Thresia surrounded by colourful Chinese Lilies arranged beautifully like an arch that silently proclaimed ,”Come I’ll take you to heaven.”  She has been an apostle to families and continues to attract families to Jesus. The five thousand people at her tomb at Kuzhikattussery on 8th June 2012, demonstrates her influence on the lives of the people around, amidst all the chaotic customs and rigid traditions which she gave no attention to. It was a great day of celebration for all as it was the day on which 86 years ago Jesus awarded her celestial admittance. The queue of people which grew longer and longer, the numerous families which knelt at the tomb, the men and women with kids who stood patiently waiting to watch the museum, the amount of money, time and help offered by the people, all these show the greatness of things Thresia did in her unknown life.
Being called to be her daughters in its truest sense, we are to be sign posts which show the right way to heaven, not milestones which only has numbered informations to exaggerate or to indicate the accurate  distance they have to travel yet. Milestones at times ready us to take better provisions for the journey. But they mostly discourage those who think that heaven is close at hand. A signpost stands as a guide that forces us to discard the wrong way.
Thresia the signpost was guided by the light of the Sun, Jesus. That light and warmth which penetrated the inner sanctuary of her soul  enable her to guide others. Thus she lives on in the hearts of millions, though she is no more. That’s what enabled her to accept ill-treatments, spanks  and greater torments in her which is beyond all scholarly interpretations. Thus she calls us to better our way, to better the way for others…
